i have an hdtv moniitor with phillips (hd) indoor ant. i pick up all my surroundin stations some about 70% clear the others a lil less. if i bought an ota tuner will it make those channels clearer to receive hd proggramming. in other words do the antenna reception have to be crystal clear from the start to enjoy hd . thx in advancehttp://www.hdtvoice.com/voice/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=203#

A digital tuner, assuming your local stations are broadcasting digitally, will provide a wonderful picture quality over analog. Even non-HD will look better.

There's no way to be absolutely sure that you will get great digital reception based on what you currently receive via analog. It a useful test as a benchmark, but not definitive.

The only way to be sure is read a few posts and FAQ's and when you're ready to pull the trigger, hook it up and see what happens.

Also... although an indoor antenna can work, it it usually not the best for a solid/stable digital signal. If you already have 'snow' and 'ghosting', then you will probably need to be prepared for a 'traditional' antenna. The roof always best, but attic installations can be a compromise. YMMV
