Hey guys,

What is the best "open box" value that you have ever purchased? A couple of weeks ago, I picked up a set of Klipsch Quintet II speakers (the entire system) for $193 at Sears. They had been on clearance AND open box. I thought that was a good deal. What have you guys been able to come by?

I bought a RCA RT2600 for under $190, I know a lot of you guys are going to say RCA sucks. But 650 watts, DD, Dolby Pro-Logic 1 and 2, and DTS, two optical inputs, one coax. Six inputs plus radio.
Have had it for eight months now, haven't had any problems at all and it sounds great.

Best deal I've ever received is the HDTV I just bought this past week. I went to a Brandsmart USA store in Sunrise, FL and purchased a Toshiba 52HM84 floor model. There was a slight problem with it - the sticker in the upper left hand corner had left a bunch of glue on it and the purchasing customer returned it. Brandsmart USA tried to remove the glue but it it did not work. My wife and I decided to purchase it anyway. Get this, I got the TV for $999.99. The MSRP is $3200 and typically sells @ the mid-point for $1700 on the Internet. I saw this TV at another chain store selling for $2200. You know what the best part is? My wife called Toshiba and said the sticker left glue. They sent a technician out here this afternoon and he removed ALL of the glue with first a combo of water & ammonia, then goo gone, and finally monitor cleaner. It looks PERFECT now and I got a great deal, and its under warranty for a full year. :patriot: If anyone out there has a Brandsmart near you, I would look there for deals. :guiny:

I just got a Samsung HLR 42" DLP for $1450 (sticker $1899). It has the screen smudge problems (common with Sammy DLPs), but that is going to be taken care of via warranty. Did this at Best Buy btw.

at CC when the Pioneer DV-563A was released, not a month later I got it open box for $70!

Tweeter(not open box): via internet- for over a year I waited to see if the Sapphire SS surounds would go on sale. was told they never would. finally after a year I seen them go from $499 a pair to $249 a pair. just recently seen them on their site back at $499 after being out of stock.

also from tweeter(not open box): a Sony KV-36XBR800 HDTV. at the time it was still sellling for $2000 and got it new in box for $1100!!! that was 2.5 years ago.

Got my Hitachi 55HDT51 from HHGregg in Concord, NC off display for $1302.04 and a $299 for the warranty. Kinda had an unfair advantage since I work there. :) Corporate dropped cost on it to move it fast and I decided to look up what I could buy it for...saw that price and about had a stroke before I could whip out my credit card and buy it! :D

That was as good as

I picked up a set of Athena Point 5 MK II from Best Buy for $150 from the open box section.

I got the LC-32DA5U for $1285 back in November. It's still going for $1500 at Best Buy. Not really an open box deal but a sweet deal none the less

Just bought a Samsung TX-P3275H for $399 from www.secondact.biz , I had a pleasant experience with the owner. They are located in my hometown, so I didn't have to pay for shipping. It appears to be brand new and it is working perfectly (knock on wood). The MSRP is $999, although I found it else where for $799. Anyway, it's a great deal.

My local Best Buy has a few Samsung 850HD upconverting dvd players for $53. I don't think they have the remote or the included HDMI cable - worth it - or not?

My particular bigscreen HDTV is going back to the store this weekend under the replacement warranty as there were some 'uncorrectable' alignment issues. I'm certain it will be sold as "Open Box"! If you really knew what you were doing and had the time to spend on making it right it would be a good buy. Nyone else is gonna think this manufacturer really produces some cr*p!!

At PC Richard I got an open box Sony dream system DAV-X1 for $250. Retail at the time was still $699 at most stores and best online site $549. What a steal. After cleaning it it was brand new. It didn't come with the antennas but I don't use it for radio.
