Just taking a quick survey to see which providers (Cable and Satellite) have ESPN-HD.
Those that do
Adelphia
Cablevision
Cox
DirecTV
Dish
VOOM
Those that don't :boo2:
Time-Warner
Those that I'm not sure of
Charter
Comcast
please help me fill in the blanks, and/or correct the entries.
Comcast has ESPN-HD
Time Warner/Bright House don't want to pay extra for ESPNHD and are still negotiating this channel. It will most likely end up in their HD Pak, because it will cost them some to add it.

I have Adelphia but no ESPN-HD as of yet. I wonder how long it takes to roll out the station in each market. I will be dying if I don't have it by football season. :mecry:
Why don't all Adelphia markets have the same channels?
Peace.

Here in the Johnson county area of Kansas City, Time Warner does not carry ESPN-HD, however Everest Communications does. However Time Warner carries more local stations then Everest.

Knology & Comcast in Panama City, Florida both have it.

Why doesnt TWC just bundle it with HDNet and HDNet movies? I already pay an extra 3 dollars a month for two worthless HD stations, why not charge me for a station I'll actually watch?
I'm pretty sure they'll add it soon. People down here are constantly asking about it, and with DirecTv, VooM, and Dish Network carrying it already they almost have to add it to stay up-to-snuff.

The only thing about your list of providers is that while Adelphia, Comcast etc may offer these channels, chances are it is region specific and not system wide. So while TWC may offer it in some systems, not all of their systems will get it at the same time. :smokin:

I get ESPN-HD bundled with DiscoverHD Theater from Charter in SW CT. Of course, since I am only there on weekend, I have seen only billiards and poker so far! Feh!

You couldn't have said it better if you wanted to.
We pay monthly $7.95 for the HD box rental in the Milwaukeeland area TWC covers,
plus $6.95 "HD Package" for INHD and INHD2, HDNET/HDNET Movies,
so why not ESPN-HD added to it and be done with it?
One TWC location:
http://www.timewarnercable.com/CustomerService/FAQ/TWCFaqs.ashx?faqID=651&MarketID=52&CatID=328
would like to include it as part of their "HD Suite" as soon as it is available(contract signed).
Some TWC personnel argue here in Milwaukeeland, that if ESPN-HD doesn't have anything different than what the ESPN SD has, then why charge extra for it (so they don't carry it as for that reason).
Can I mention "SportsCenter HD"? (Only saw it once from a Directv subscriber-neighbour).
Here, TWC, I have a good reason:
To remain competitive with the 3 satellite providers and not look like such a holdout!

That is such a lame excuse by TWC for not having ESPN-HD. We got HDTVs because we wanted the visual and audio improvements that HDTV gives us. The difference is actually helpful for my rather elderly eyes - much easier to watch. It shows that cable companies just quite don't get it. The real reason has to be it costs too much, because I'm sure if given a voice the majority would want it even if it costs extra.
JackDrizzle:
I would gladly pay $3 a month for HDNET and HDNET movies. Comcast doesn't carry them. Everyone is different.

There's a provider in the Mountain West that carries ESPN and ESPN-2 but not ESPN-news, or ESPN-classic (although I don't know if those come in HD).

NOBODY!!!
From what I've been seeing, ESPN-HD has been added to Time-Warner's HD VIP Pack (along with HDnet and InHD) so if you want it (and most of you do), you'll have to pay extra for it. If you're already paying for the VIP pack, your payments are now worth it.

Now you should do analysis on Bravo HD+, TNT-HD or the movie channels in HD you can only get with Voom or providers that do have at least Cinemax HD and Starz!HD...just a thought. Thanks in advance.

I think I'll leave that to someone else. ESPN-HD was such a hot-button item, I felt it was worth the effort. I did it out of my own curiosity only. Since I am one of those Time-Warner customers who was dismayed, disheartened and (a bit) disgusted that everyone was getting ESPN-HD except TWC, and I am an avid ESPN viewer like a lot of people, I wanted to know how others were doing...were we TWC customers alone in our frustration? :sobbing:
Turned out to be pretty much true. Smaller outfits (Bresnan, Insight, Knology, etc) had it, but we, the 3rd largest cable provider, were SOL. TWC management was (and still is, pretty much) close lipped, adding to the frustration and anger levels.
When it arrived, well, we were all like this... :drool11:
All right, enough :mic: on my part. Let's all enjoy what we have now.

No luck for Comcast subscribers yet for ESPN2-HD. The problem seems to be that Comcast wants ESPNU in its Sports Tier ($5 per month extra) and ESPN wants it in the extended basic like the other ESPN channels.

That will of is the negotiating mess TWC is probably in right now.
Since one TWC thread mentioned an email back from TWC indicating ESPN2HD would be there in time for baseball, maybe Comcast will, too.
