I've been visiting this forum a lot and have gained much insight into HDTV. Thanks. Currently in Gainesville, FL our cable company (Cox) does not have any locals except PBS in HD. According to antennaweb, I could get digital OTA, but according to the cable company they are not HD, only SD broadcast digitally. (That is why Cox says they have not offered them yet, because they aren't available). Is there a resource where I can find out when these locals plan to broadcast HD? Or maybe they already are and the cable company doesn't know. I've tried checking the respective stations websites, and the networks websites, but if the info is there, its buried.

Try the old fashion way, give them a call and ask.

Thats the plan on Monday, but theres a pretty good sale this weekend on the TV I was looking at, so I was hoping to get the info over the weekend. If they aren't going to be broadcasting in HD for another year, I don't mind waiting another year.

There is usually someone there at that the TV station on the weekend. Most of the news rooms will answer the phone. The first person you get might not know the answer to your question, but it could be worth the call. The place you are buying your HDTV should also know what the local stations are doing.

Also, I wouldn’t let yourself get pressured into purchasing if you’re not ready. Sales are just to attract people in the store. If you show up with money on Monday, they will give you the weekend sale price. You might have to talk to the manager, but you will get it if your persistent. Trust me, they want your business.
