This has been discussed before I'm sure, but why are some things not presented in OAR but others are. Is this up to HBO or the studios?

This came up as I am watching T3 right now. Also, who does the transfers and things like that cause this has a very high brightness it seems, with the black of the opening credits not being black at all.

The studios often prepare two HD versions of movies that are 2.35:1. The "network" then orders either the 1.78:1 version or the 2.35:1 version depending on if anyone in the network cares about OAR, whether they know what OAR is, who the intended audience is, etc.

I have asked my movie network to always order 2.35:1 if it's available. Since my contact is a movie buff, he understands and we've been getting about 50% of the 2.35:1 movies that way...

If you're an OAR fanatic, send your comments to the various networks that show movies asking for OAR.
