I'm gonna get the HD package from Direct TV, and patiently wait for football season. Couldn't be happier with the TV, it looks fantastic.
Two questions, as I'm learning.....
No need for S Video cables, correct? HD is done with component cables, and the newer progressive scan DVD players are component cables as well, right? And from what I've been told, component cables are BETTER than the S video... ?
Just making sure, thanks for any and all replies. :smokin:
yes component cables are the way to go. on your STB you may wish to hook up an S-Video for the non-HD channels, some say this makes them look better. But for HD, DVD & Video games if you play them, hook it all up with components and you are ready to go.

Thanks Max. Now to work on Direct TV for a better price than they're trying to rape everyone on. I'm gonna try the "I'll switch to VOOM" tactic... will let you guys know how that goes...

The same reason most of us won't leave Direct TV. The NFL ticket. Without that, I'd NEVER have Direct TV.

Just to let you guys know... got my HD package from Direct TV, and the "threaten to cancel" tactic worked. Got the entire hookup for $150, instead of the $399 for tuner, antenna, dish...
Thanks to this forum, I saved $250.

Mech, you're not far, right? I'm in Lake Forest. Went NUTS at the Good Guys. TV, stand, audio tower, Klipsch speakers, etc, etc... I need someone to come check it out! I'll supply the beer.
