I have a Samsung 26inch Wide screen HDTV.. The specs claim to support 480p, 720p, & 1080i.. But I read that to display 720p my TV downconverts to 540p!! I played SC2 in 480p & '720p' & the difference in the visuals aren't as big as they should be in my opinion..
Also, why do some companies lie when they tell you their TV supports 720p when they really don't.. They should say, supports 720p but not in it's native resolution..

When they say they will "support", they mean that the TV will accept that signal. Not all HDTV will accept 720p. Most STB boxes will convert your cable or sat signal to 720p or 1080i for you, but this is a real problem for X-box players that have 720p games and cannot play them in HD if their HDTV won't accept a 720p signal.

Do not worry about the 720p issue regarding Xbox games..only 1 % of Xbox games have a resolution higher than 480p. Support does not equal display.
BTW on a 27 inch tv you will not see much if any difference in PQ. HD is really made for LARGE screens. On the other hand your SD programming should be much better. Since the picture is more compact you do not have the picture looking grainy.

You might get an argument about that from some folks over in the x-box forum. :D

I think there are a total of 5 games that are 720p and on that does 1080i. The one game that I played that was 1080i -Matrix, was no great thing when it came to PQ.

Currently 24 games in 720p and 4 games in 1080i, with many new releases expected to be HD. I don't know why Microsoft has choosen 720p over 1080i, but it has been a problem for many with HDTVs that won't accept a 720p signal. I agree, Matrix was not very impressive.
