Hi,
I have a dumb question regarding the usage of my diplexer. Please reference the picture below. As you can see there are two cables coming from my satellite dish. I have two receivers in the house. Each cable runs to each of the two receivers, right ? If so, then I need to connect the diplexer to the cable that is running to my HDTV receiver, correct ?
Thanks in advance,
Darin

Hi,
The picture is of a coax grounding block. ?? Wrong pic or is that the item your question is on?
Are you connecting a third tv (HDTV) ?

Hi Lee,
That is actually the item that I am questioning. The satellite cables are running through the grounding block. I was question where I connect the diplexer. Do I just connect one of those cables to the SAT connection on the diplexer ?

Sorry for being a little dense :) Just got up.
So you are going to use a diplexor to attach an OTA antenna to your HDTV recevier?
Make a cable run from the OTA antenna to the coax from the sat antenna. Pick a spot that is convenient. I would connect the diplexor before the grounding block (between the sat antenna and the grounding block). Be sure to pick the correct coax, the one going to the HDTV receiver. Mount the second half of the diplexor near the HDTV receiver and run one cable to the SAT in and one to the OTA in.
Just a note: If possible run a coax directly from the OTA antenna to the recevier. This gives the best results. Maybe just run the coax temporarily, to be sure everything is going to work ok. Then when you wire in the Diplexor and it all stops working, you will know where the problem is.

No problem :) Thank you for the reply and instructions. I will give that a try.

Darin,
A diplexer(usually two) are used to handle sat signal in one direction and an rf feed back the other way to a central distribution point. You may want a signal combiner in lieu of a diplexer.
I would do as Lee has suggested - run a new coax from OTA direct to receiver.

Diplexer A device that splits a collection of signals into two groups according to the frequency range in which they are located, or combines two groups of signals, each occupying a separate frequency range, into a single collection of signals.
