hey guys, figured you'd be able to help with this one.

I have a DCT5100 and I'm trying to go from the component out of the box to my NEC MultiSync 6FGp 22" monitor with these cables http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5706882607&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT

The listing says "Note: The Device to which the "VGA" connector is connected, needs to support Component video(which is actually "sync on Y", Y-Pr-Pb)or "sync-on-green" for this type of cable to work. These cables are not compatible with computer monitor ports or Y/Cr/Cb video. Check your Plasma, Projector or HDTV manual, otherwise your picture won't sync! In this case you need a "transcoder"."

Here are the specs on these monitors:

NEC MULTISYNC 6FGP (JC-2141UMA-3) Specifications

We explain your options concerning video cards and cables below.

These monitors have a HD-15 pin input on them, but I'm not getting anything on the screen, any ideas?

I'm not familiar with the DCT5100 box so I can't really say much other than does it work on a TV with component inputs? if yes then maybe there is a menu you need to go thru or switch on the back of the box that needs to be switched?
My Samsung box has about 5 different video outputs and switches need to be in certain positions for the thing to work properly

I would actually try running 3 regular component cables from the DCT5100 into 3 of the 5 BNC connectors on the monitor, specifically RED, GREEN, and BLUE. The two BNC's not connected should be H and V. You'll have to either get component cables with RCA connectors on one end and BNC on the other, or just grab 3 BNC-RCA adapters at Radio Shack.

Since this monitor will Sync-on-Green, this should work. If not, you will need a transcoder to go from Component to true VGA.

This should work if the monitor truly supports Sync-on-Green. Is there a toggle switch somewhere to select or deselect the sync methods? It would probably be around the BNC connectors.

i checked, there in a switch, but it's next to the VGA input, switched it, same thing

ok, the box had to be changed from 480i to 480p output from ypbpr and the picture on the monitor is no longer overlaced, but everyting still has the green tint, or whatever color is pluged into the "green" or "sync" BNC input of the monitor.
