My installer said I could get more channels than a dish 500. I DON'T want international channels and I only have the one dish. I CAN recieve CBS if I get another dish but I was under the impression (by my installer) that It would do it all. I have an antenna for locals (CBS) anyway.
Do I have this huge dish on my roof for no reason?
I'm probably wrong but I thought that SuperDish died? I get the HD pack with just my old Dish 500 antenna. I might be missing a Demo channel or something. ??
Is Dish moving channels around again? Anyone else??
I'm just as curious as you are now. I'll see if I can find out what's going on before I come home some night and my HD channels are gone.

In the Milwaukee Wisconsin area I see very many "SuperDish" dishes sprout like crazy in the past months, including one down my street on a new house. The larger-than-Directv dish seems to dwarf the 18"x20" triple LNB that Directv sometimes uses (or forgets to install-see them on other new houses, too). This is so Dish users can get the locals that were added recently to their area. Note on the Dish Network site there are notes on locals that mention the dish requirement for some locals.
Hope this helps you guys out from panicing.

I'll take a look on the Dish site. thanks. I was under the impression the Superdish was for HD and they scrapped that plan. I`m getting the locals here in NJ/NY area, I don't know if I would with just the 500. I'm certainly not getting a 2nd dish just for CBS when I have an antenna. I don't even need the locals from Dish, come to think of it.
I wonder if I could replace the SuperDish (if need be) without replacing the stem. The less holes made on the roof, the better.

This would be SD not HD locals? In my area we don't need SuperDish for our SD locals and there are no HD locals here. I get all the networks OTA (HD).
I guess the better question would be "what HD locals" :)
Thanks,
Lee

There ar no HD locals. Some areas need the SD for local channels, international and internet

I read that. It does'nt seem like I need it. The dish is on my front porch roof and looks huge that low to the ground. I hate to bother the installer yet again, he was such a good guy.
If I ever need it in the future I would definately keep it, but it does'nt look like they'll be working aund the SuperDish like they planned.
Thanks for the help.
