Have seen this "new" brand (to me anyways) at COSTCO and now at www.costco.com and was curious IF anyone has any reviews or experience with owning one of these? Thought it might be nice for the bedroom although I'd prefer slightly smaller in either 42" or 46", probably the 46" since our bedroom is only like about 18' x 20'. Any reviews? I think I want a DLP for my next HD set. I think Texas Instruments is a great company and haven't had the chance to research Vizio and if it is a seperate division or seperate company just using TI technology. Didn't see a seperate topic under brand names so am posting here so IF the moderators think this post belongs in another area feel free to move it. Thanks, Deana

Hmmmm, seems V, Inc makes it.

Going back now to read the review.

Ohhhh, Faroudja DCDi :)

It sure sounds good and the price is right for a set with the Faroudja in it. That alone will make a huge difference in PQ for s-video and composite, not to mention the other benefits of the DCDi.

I've only found a couple of other comments so far about it and they talked something about the generation of the HD-2 DMD something another aspect of the set and that new models featuring the latest and greatest of this are on the immediate horizon in like August so I think I should just hold on tight for a few weeks! Perhaps? Or maybe buy some more furniture to go in the 'old' home theater family room? Decisions decisions!

Thanks for your reply Lee!

I read that too and remembered all the buzz about this in the DVD players back when I was researching our original set up with the Mits and wondered to myself IF the Faroudja was still touted as "all that and then some" :)

Thanks again Lee!

MY projector has the HD2 and Faroudja DCDi. The DCDi really makes a difference. The new PJs are due out and have the HD2+, better contrast and a 7 segment color wheel.

SD off my 501 looks great. I've also played a few VHS tapes via composite and I was extremely surprised at the PQ.

The new equipment due out will be more expensive (for a while anyway). When the price starts dropping on the HD2+ units we will have HD3 which is slated for rear projection sets.

Choices, choices (budget, budget) :)

Hi Lee

That's what I couldn't remember earlier, the 7 segment color wheel~! I'll have to look into that and study up again on all the latest and greatest as it has been over a year now since I really got into researching all the technical aspects.

So true and I really hate the budget, budget part~!

CNET & Extreme Tech both have review up on the RP56. Right now Costco's around LA stores have them for $2499 or something.

They got "okay" reviews from both, I bet if the price was listed as such though, it might get a tad better rating.

Seems there are some issues with the TV...but I may get it and test it out regardless, since Costco is real easy with returns.

peace,
dave
