Since I may be moving across the country, this might be a good time to buy a new tv.

I'm looking for a set in the 37 to 42 inch range, flat panel (could be LCD, DLP, or plasma), something that might even take a PC input, and something that hasn't caused many headaches in terms of having problems with the TV.

I don't have any particular affiliations to a particular brand, so what are the best prices people have seen for any tv meeting these simple requirements?

Which tvs do people feel give them the best bang for the buck?

I like the Sony RPLCD so my vote is for the KF42WE610.

Is the KF42WE610 a flat panel? What is the difference in size between an RPLCD and a flat-panel LCD?

I think the 42 inch RP LCD is only 14 inches deep and weighs about 90 lbs. The front of the display looks alot like a flat panel and most people that see my 60 think it is one. It is also cheaper and has excellent PQ. it's only 10 inches deeper than a plasma and about 10 inches thinner than a direct view.

Many forum member have expressed deep delight with the Sony Rear Projection LCD HDTVs...they don't need convergence like CRT sets do (great for traveling), require only a lightbulb change once and awhile and take up less weight and space than their CRT counterparts do, a perfect fit for any apartment or smaller home. :smokin:
I would strongly suggest if you do move across country and do buy one ahead of time, BUY the extended warranty to keep your set like new upon move-in to that new place and buy the set from a national retailer who stands behind their product and not a local one in your old location, preferably. ;)
Your best bet is on an extended warranty (for the circuit board and bulb) on the 42 inch model RPLCD from Circuit City...provided there is one close to where you are going to live. They exist in most parts of the country. If not, a Best Buy if you feel comfortable with them, too. :D
While you are at it, check out where the store is to your new location, what cable or OTA HD channels are available (if you get a sat with built in HD OTA ) for HD delivery. :)

Make sure the Panasonic is offered has a good frequency of repair record, ask others about the model and their use of it like the Sony people in this forum before you buy.
Then if it is a good one, the Panasonic has the features and good words you seek, remember the store you buy it from be one you will be near where you move to and again, buy the warranty extension if you are buying and then moving to protect your investment...please!
