Sony 51" HDTV - Paint finish coming off?

I've had my TV for about 6 months now. No problems at all. I look at the bottom of the TV (The part that sticks out a bit) and there was some "goo" in a spot. Seemed odd. I touched it, and it was indeed some kind of goo. So I went to grab just my regular lysol cleaner & a paper towel. As soon as I start wiping it, it turns a dark grey (my TV is a light silver color). I notice that it's the finish coming off (and not just the goo on top of the finish.

What the hell? I call Sony, but of course it's not business hours. Anyone else have this kind of problem? I've never used anything besides windex on my screen before and just use the swiffer cloths to clean the rest of the TV. Still have no clue what the goo could have been.

I'm sure I can find some matching touch-up paint (anyone know the exact color used on the 51" Sony HDTV?), but it's upsetting that my TV (and new kick-ass Entertainment Center) now look like crap because of that huge dark grey splotch.

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Perhaps something was spilled on that spot unknowingly or a 'drip' of cleaner/solvent and left there eating away at the finish.

Definately think that's the issue, Rat. I just called up Sony Customer Service. They of course said it's a cosmetic issue and not under warranty. I figured as much. They directed me to either a service center (yeah, feel like lugging my TV there) and when I pressed them for more info, they gave me the Sony Parts number. I'm on hold with them now, trying to see if I can get some kind of color code so I can spray paint it back to it's original color.

Anyone know off-hand the color code for the Silver HDTV's? (Mine's a KP-51WS510)
