Has anyone had experience with the new panny rptv and the image shift feature? Apparantly when the TV does not detect a movement in the signal, ie, video games (which now use screensavers) or paused DVDs (which should also have a screensaver) the tv will move the screen left, righ and up and down.

Does this sound like something that may be a benefit? Obviously it won't help with static images on a moving show (like station logos etc) but I think (being an electrical engineer) that TVs are so f'in smart that it can detect any particular image that is stationary, even if it is part of the main show and move it.

I just looked at the owner's manual for the PT47X54 and it indeed says that this is an option to help prevent burn in and image retention. IT also says the tv will change channels like every two hours or something. Here's the link.

I don't know how much it would help, but at least it is a start of companies try to take some percautions. Going to be kinda of hard to get some raw data on this since these are new models.
