Infocus LP640

Hey Guys,

I might be able to get a good deal on this projector:

But before i jump in i need to find out if i can use it for HDTV?
It cant find what its native Resolution is, only that it accepts 1080i,1080p,720p,480p and 576p and it also displays the same.

Would this be a good choice for the home theater?

Click on the "Specifications" tab on your linked page: the projector has a native resolution of 1024x768, which is a 4:3 aspect ratio. The projector will use a resolution of 1024x576 in 16:9 mode (576p, which would be better than 540p, not as good as 720p), which is not a "true" HD resolution, but it might look good anyway. All 16:9 signals would be converted to 576p.

Doh! Missed the part where it shows the native resolution.
Oh well, 576p might be better than 540 but it isnt good enough for me.

How much was the good deal for? The Sanyo PLV-Z2's are going for $1800 and have a native resolution of 1280x720. Just a personal opinion on my part, but I think it's an amazing machine. I've had mine for ~4 months now. For the money it's a hard deal to beat.

I was able to get one for around $1k, they retail anywhere between $1500 to $2k I have heard. But i prefer to spend a few bucks more and get real HD than to settle for something close just cause its a good price.

I just got one of these as a "hand me down" from a friend.

Where can I get more information (other than the manufactures site) about this unit - and its ability to perform in a home theater application.
