Is there a way to increase the signal stregth coming from the cable outlet thru this STB. Was also wondering if there is a way that you can tell what output is coming from the tv on the STB (i.e. 720, 1080). How do you get into the STB service menu.

The only way to 'boost' your cable signal (if indeed that is what needs to done) in your house is to get a house amplifier available through your cable co. 9 times out of 10 you do not need an inhouse amp, just some line work. Call the cable co and schedule a service appointment. It should not cost you a dime other than the time it takes to wait for the guy/gal to do some basic signal strength tests that should take all of about 45 seconds to do. :smokin:

This is all I could find:
An additional hidden menue is available by depressing the diamond and source buttons together untill "diag6" appears in the stb display. Release buttons then depress and release the diamond button once. A menu should appear on your tv screen listing 25 additional submenu. Use the down arrow button on the stb or your wireless remote to step down to "Hardware". Here you should see "VideoOutput 1080i" and "DVI connected".
I'm not sure what the line, "HDCP Idle" means yet!
Power of the stb with your remote or the off button to escape the menu.
Be carefull in this mode. I suspect one might muck things up rather easily.

Splicer is right. I had that problem when I went broadband. The signal in wasn't strong enough. They had to come back out (after prodding), and do some "yard work" outside my condo, replace some old/corroded wires. After that, the internet was faster, but better yet my tv picture was much better. and I thought it was the tv
Has anyone noticed that the Digital Coaxil audio out on the Pioneer doesn't work. I have a Pioneer STB in New York with Time Warner Cable.

my digital audio output works perfect on the Pioneer 3500 STB for TWC in NYC. Same exact box. But, my component output doesnt work on the box, but I am using the DVI for everything. So I do cant about that. Something is always wrong with Time Warner it seems, not enough HD channels, box problems. they need to get their act together.

Is there a passthrough mode with this STB or should there be one? Right now I have my tv set to 1080 and I think same with the STB. When I switch channels from SD to HD, there is a second pause, the screen goes black, so red and green lines pass by, and then the HD channel shows up perfectly. Is this correct. Should there be a second pause or should there be a smooth transaction taking place.

Normally there is a disruption when the TV has to resync when switching between SD and HD.

but is that normal with the second gap. Just want to make sure I am not screwing up my tv.

I have the same problem in that i get a second gap when the screen goes blank. This in itself is not much of a problem, but 1 out of 5 "switches" between sd and hd gets screwed up where I get white vertical lines or sometimes i can view only half the screen. I have to reboot the box when this happens. It's connected by hdmi/dvi cable. This did not happen (no second delay either) when it was connected by component video cables.
Any ideas?

I am using DVI and I think that is why there is that second pause. I think the picture is amazing on my tv with DVI cable so I dont want to switch to component cables. I think will component cables there will be a smooth transition.
