I live in Austin TX (good in the winter, bad in the summer) :)

Just moved up to a 42" plasma with HD DirecTivo (HR10-250) reciever and I'm looking for a good antenna for OTA HDTV.

antennaweb gives me this info:

* yellow - uhf KXAN-DT 36.1 NBC AUSTIN TX 193° 13.7 21
* yellow - uhf KVUE-DT 24.1 ABC AUSTIN TX 194° 14.1 33
* yellow - uhf KNVA-DT 54.1 WB AUSTIN TX 193° 13.7 49
* yellow - uhf KEYE-DT 42.1 CBS AUSTIN TX 194° 14.1 43
* green - uhf KLRU-DT 18.1 PBS Austin TX 193° 13.7 22
* red - uhf KNCT-DT 46.1 PBS Belton TX 3° 33.1 38
* red - vhf KAKW-DT 62.1 UNI KILLEEN TX 307° 21.6 13

I got a Zenith Silver Senser and put in the attic (we are a single floor) but I can't seem to convince it to give me decent reception (signals not received or dropping out).

Thinking about the Winegard Square Shooter (again in the attic). Is this the best choice for me? I also read about the DB2/DB4 on antennasdirect.com - the price is much better than the Winegard SS but will they perform?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks...

You're very close and shouldn't have problems with reception.

All I can say is try 'em all (and keep your receipts, just in case).

If the attic doesn't work, try them outdoors (balcony/window). They're all pretty unobtrusive, so you may be able to mount it where no one will complain.

This is the one that worked for me in my attic:
