View Full Version : Help! #811 receiver can’t connect with RCA MM52100 TV

I have a model MM52100 52” RCA HD-ready rear projection TV purchased in Sep. 2000.
Last week I had a #500 Dish with a #811 HDTV satellite receiver installed. Now I find out from the installer that I cannot receive HD channels through the MM52100 because this RCA model will only accept signals from the RCA DTC-100HD satellite receiver used only with DirectTV. My installer says he cannot get the units to talk to each other, so no HD.
I looked at the brochure of the MM52100 and it says: “This multimedia monitor was designed to work hand-in-hand with RCA’s DTC-100 HD satellite receiver.”

My question: Has anyone had this problem? Is there a work-around or any adaptors or cables to make this work? Any thoughts will be appreciated.
John

It should have component inputs as well as VGA.Are you using them? Check to see if you must turn them on in the setup menu. Is your 811 set to 1080i and 4:3?

Damn, that blows...I second kevins suggestion. A component should be available. But i am curious. Why does the TV need to 'talk' to the receiver???

Your installer should be looking for another carreer.

Your TV will work with any HD hardware and doesn't need to "TALK" with anything.

The only reason the “This multimedia monitor was designed to work hand-in-hand with RCA’s DTC-100 HD satellite receiver.” ... is there is because it's an RCA product. The DTC-100 only has a VGA/RGB out and the TV has VGA/RGB in for compatibility with an RCA product.

Read through your manuals and check the settings on the hardware. It should work with no problems.

The phrase I used "cannot get the units to talk to each other" is probably my poor choice of words. It was just slang I used to say that the signal from the 811 HDTV receiver did not reach the MM52100 in order for me to receive HD channels?

Thankyou for all your helpful replies. I will pass this information on to my installer.

You can do these things yourself. Attach the red green and blue outlets of the 811 to the TV. Check th tv manual for info on activating the inputs.
