Been a great selling set so far. Real popular for the size. Its less than 40" in width and as you said. IT has one hell of a picture on it. Remote very easy to see/use. So far so good. We been selling them for the past 2 months and no issues yet.
I have been using this TV for over a month now. The first one that I bought had intermittent pixelization. BestBuy exchanged it, since it was within the first month. No problems woth the new set. Other than that first problem, great set. Lots of inputs; qulaity is good. INtuitive/functional remote.
HD quality is just great...
Love it.

So you work at Best Buy? I would like to buy one of these tv's but I want to get the best deal that I can. I know a guy that works in the video dept. and he said he couldn't get one at cost for me because he had already purchased a tv for himself earlier. I was wondering how I can get the best deal on this tv? What is the best price you think I can get it for? :patriot:

right now running untill the end of the month is a 10% off coupon they should have. If ya buy the hdtv and 400+ stereo component or sorround system you can take advantage of it. ending saturday 8/22 is 2 years no interest financing also . Not a bad deal at all atm

Theres this catalog you can pick up at the store in the TV department. Its on the inside when you open it. If by chance they dont have any left you shouldnt have an issue taking advantage of it. Runs untill the end of the 31 of august. I know at my store we dont plan on accepting after the promation. We ran it for over 2 months as is.

Would you recommend buying the extended warranty for this tv? Don't just say yes because you work for BestBuy. Be honest.

I find it is worth it on most of the big screen sets for several reasons. For the 400 pretty much everything but you throwing your shoe through the screen is covered on LCD and DLP sets. The bulbs, motors, power supply, remote, balyst, ect. Its in home, covers all parts and labor. Not to mention the best thing of all. No lemon policy. Just to give ya an idea how that works ill give ya an example I had a friend use. He had baught a 53" panasonic rp off me. Was when i first started selling tv. 8 months later the set wouldnt turn on. So he had the service plan and i told em call the number. 2 days later the tech comes out and says ug another one. Friend asked what it was. Here it turned out the blue crt gun went bad and partially melted one of the 2 circuit boards. The part would take over a month to get in to fix it. So later in the day i get this phonecall from em and he told me what they said. I told him to call the 800 number again and ask for the no lemon department. 2 days later im swapping it out with a 51" toshiba for him. HE ended up with a much better set from it as well. Basically this repair would have been covered under panasonic warranty. He just woulda had to wate a month with no tv. Instead he is dealing with us at Best Buy for 4 years and its much easier. Its little things like that that can give ya peace of mind for 4 years and help protect your investment. Thats how i look at warranty and service plans. Ok im done rambling. Hope that helps

I have narrowed my choices for a new hdtv to the following two:
Toshiba 51H84
Zenith E44W46LCD
Dealing with them both which is a better set? The picture on the toshiba is one of the best out of all the tv's that I have looked at. The only thing I don't like is the protective screen (GLARE). I would love to just go buy the Zenith but it is hard to pay $2299 for a tv when I know that the employees get it for like $1500. If there was a way that I could get the Zenith with about 3-400$ knocked off of it I would buy it in a heartbeat. Is there anyway you could work me up a deal from your store and I could take it to the store here and get that same deal? I would buy the PSP.
Also, what is you opinion on the new (63) Samsung DLP models?

naw afraid not. That is up to the store manager or department manager. At times they run a 10% deal OR financing. This week is 2 years financing or you might be able to get 10% off if a compitor is

What are your thoughts on the Toshiba 51H84?

I have researched the Toshiba RP's and this year's models ("84") apparently are actually worse than last year's ("83"). Seems this year's models HX series don't use the Pegasus IV tubes, which were in last year's and are better, for cost purposes.

I too just decided to get the zenith E44W46LCD, I saw it at bestbuy for the first time and love the set. I looked around a little and found it at bestbuy's site for 1,899.00. I looked around and have not found it at any other sites (is this a really new set?). Anyway, here is the link to that page, if it works. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=pcat17005&type=page&_requestid=14653
Also, its advertizing for free shipping or free pickup from a nearby bestbuy store.

I have had mine for about 3 weeks now and absolutely love it. I have a Digeo Moxi HD-DVR, an X-box, and a Mac Powerbook Ti hooked up to it and they all look great.

I've had mine for going on 3 weeks also. A great bang for the buck TV... we got ours for $1899 (after a couple price matches).
I noticed the typical green 'push' out of the box which was easily fixed by adjusting the color/tint. The screen door effect is apparent on some (usually HD) programming with alot of light color background if I lean towards the set.
Best of all, it fit in our existing entertainment center with 1/2" on each side to spare. :)

This is my TV. I got it back in July.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...29&type=product
For the last few days when I watch TV I see red static where dark colors should be and turquios color in the light part of the tv. This happens of both HD and SD programming. It also happens on my XBOX. Does anyone else have this problem?

They kept putting it on sale. They essentially price matched themselves and their webpage.

Still $1,999 in the store with $200 gift card. It was $1,899.00 in the store last week. And my BestBuy store would NOT price match the web site.

I've found that it is hit or miss with pricematching the website. Some will, some wont. If one store wont, try another. Or come back later and ask someone else.

check another store for price matching or talk to another manager. My wife won't let us get it just yet. I am a builder and have to wait for a couple of houses to close in Jan. hopefully, it just gets cheaper and cheaper before a new model comes out.

I did go back to the store now that it's $1,699 and as reported earlier, the internal web page at the store didn't show the $1,699 price. I had a print of the real web page time and date stamped 2 hours earlier. The manager said he'd honor the web page "only because it was the holidays." The deal keeps getting better!
The printed policy on the wall at the store states that the price match excludes internet offers. However, the argument that you can bring back the original item, place the new order on the Bestbuy.com web site and pick up the item at the same store should carry the day. As noted above, if you get no from one person, ask for the manager and you should get your price match. Happy holidays!
I found one way to get BB to match a price is to order it on line and do a store pickup. You get an e-mail when the order is ready to pick up and you are in and out of the store quickly.

Ordering online is exactly as you describe at Best Buy (and Circuit City). But, how do you get an internet 'price match' otherwise?
In my experience, the store (Best Buy) will not honor the online prices of www.bestbuy.com. Although, you can purchase online (at the lower price if available) and do a store pickup.

Hi:
I was going to buy this set for $1899 at the Best buy in Holyoke, MA, but they were out. I went home and checked the website and looked into the Clearance 50% off section. There was the same set for $1699. It was in stock in Worcester, MA. I ordered it online, got a confirmation that it was available in about 20 minutes, drove down and picked it up within an hour.
Couldn't have been easier and with the set weighing only 50 pounds, it was a snap to bring into the house and set up.

I just bought htis set from Best Buy today. Its a great set ad has some great features that are amust for me (two different digital inputs and no huge speaker stand) Problem is that I see equidistantvertical bars all the way across the screen when a light background is displayed. This is the same thing I noticed on an opened floor model but not on the display.

I received my $200 gift card yesterday. Net price of the set is down to $1425 after the price match, gift card and Reward Zone bonus. Now that's a great deal!

I know I don't have HDMI port in the back but I do have a DVI. I have a HDMI to DVi converter cable for my dvd player and it works pretty well. I'm using RBG for the HD Cox PDR.
So while I has at bestbuy and I hate these Nazis sometimes, I was looking at the Toshiba HD Player and I told the guy I didn't have a HDMI but I did have a DVI Imput so while it does carry hd it will not carry the sound. He said you are out of luck, sorry you bought the wrong tv. :shootout:
While I was standing there another guy, not a bestbuy but just a guy who said you will be fine. If you can live with the sound you will be fine.
Who is right?
PS. My wife will never let me buy another tv this expensive. :mecry:

You didn't 'buy the wrong TV' nor are you "out of luck". The majority of users have the same sitution.
Use your HDMI/DVI converter for video. The DVD player will also have both analog and digital outputs for the audio. If you only have the TV for audio... just use the red/white analog audio connected to the TV's audio inputs.
For best results, you should use the DVD players digital audio output (toslink or digital coax) connected to an audio receiver in order to enjoy DD or DTS.
