View Full Version : Samsung discontinued OTA STB
Stopped by BB today, saw they have a Samsung OTA HD receiver marked down to 250 as a "close out." I forget the model number. The guy told me that a new model was coming out soon. I am planning to get a HD OTA receiver come October (birthday present for myself). Have read some bad reviews of Samsungs STBs on the CC website. But it seems that quality control on all HD stuff is disgraceful, with glitches and lemons available from all manufacturers.
So, anybody know anything about the new Sammy STBs, including what the pricing will be? Any other suggestions? I am price sensitive, hope to pay under $300.

I bought the Samsung 351 and it was really bad, went through 3 of them before I gave up on Samsung. I ended up with an LG OTA tuner, I am very very happy. If price is an issue try looking at the LG 4200, I think it is about $299.

Look at Ebay also for the SIR-T351. I had one with no problems. Sold mine barely used for 200 to a friend. He has no issues that I know of.
Shortly after I started that thread I bought the LG tuner. However, I got the 3200 or whatever they called it, for 299. I see that the newer model is out now. If that is going for 299 I bet the leftover versions of my set, which is quite good, are going for 250 or less.
I wonder how the new sets (LGs or anybody elses) compare to the old ones? Not for features, but for tuning performance. Are there new chips? Better multi-path performance? More sensitivity?

From what I understand the latest LG's have better OTA tuners.
Yes... 5th gen chips, better MP rejection and better sensitivity.
