For all of you like-minded videophiles out there, I finally figured out how to access the service menu on this set:

--> push the [menu] button on the TV and the [menu] button on the remote simultaneously for 5 seconds <--

... and "voila" the service menu appears.

Happy tweaking :-)

YES!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I've been trying to find out how to access that on my C34W37 for some 9 fricking months now because my overscan/h-pos/v-pos/whatever settings have never been right.

You have found the answer for mine too! I can finally watch HD channels and DVD's without the left and right edges cut off!! :hyper:

If you lived anywhere near me, I'd buy you a beer or something!!! :overclap:

Thanks again!

You could be neighbours since neither of you put your location in your profile, which is often-times helpful when answering questions. ;)

I have an issue with vertical lines spaced about 1/2 inch apart on the screen. Is there something in the service menu that I can adjust to fix this? The codes do not seem obvious to me.

Does anyone have documentation that explains the service menu?

No, this is the screen door effect that is the major drawback of lcd projection tv's. The major drawbacks of dlp's are the rainbow effect and seasickness

As far as service menu documentation goes, I doubt that you will be able to find any as us laymen are not suppposed to know how to access it.

You may be able to find some of the service menu codes at this site.

Keohi HDTV - Brand Specific - Zenith HDTV Tips (http://www.keohi.com/keohihdtv/brandspecific/zenith/zenith_tips.html)

There is an extremely large list of codes under "Service Menu Codes Decoded", most of which were not in the service menu on my system.

It goes without saying that one must be careful when making adjustments to these. I just made some minor adjustments to vertical and horizontal positions and sizes on my set. Plus I wrote down every setting before I started tinkering, so I could try to get it back to the way it was before I messed with it...

Good luck.

... I wish they had info for our tv. We need a Zenith tech to join this forum.

I just purchased the E44W46LCD. Its mostly fantastic, except I have one nagging issue when watching SDTV digital cable images, using my Explorer 8000HD DVR box with Time-Warner service.

I get these 2, 6" thick horizontal green bars, spaced about 10" apart, that slowly crawl up my screen and wrap around at the top. The bars are very, very faint, but visibly discolor everything they pass over. They move slowly up the screen, and loop around back to bottom.

The bars are coming out of my cablebox's image stream. They continue to move even after I pause playback (its a DVR). I'm using Component Video, with the so-so quality RGB wires that came with the box. The box outputs 16:9 video, and side-boxes 4:3 channels for me.

I haven't noticed the same problem while watching HD Channels or DVDs on Component-2 input.

Any ideas on what it could be? I'm hoping its the cable box :(

Good news - I found a tweak that might help you minimize the 1/2 inch spaced vertical lines. See the 2nd post on this thread dedicated to finding or figuring out the service menu and some good tweaks:

Thanks for the help. I have also been wathching that thread. I hope more info get post there. As for my TV - I had a technician come and look at the TV. He did not know how to fix it and was going to have to research a fix. Since I still had 1 day left in Best Buy's return policy, I decided to exchange the TV and not hassel with repairs. The new TV does not have the vertical lines so I am happy.
