How did you order the HD200 when it is not even available to order. If it is available to order, who did you order it from?

They have these at circuit city as well for the same price (plus tax). Much better alternative than mail order because it's easy to return if you don't like it.

Yup, bought mine from Circuit City for $800 about a week ago. This being my first venture in HDTV, I really don't have a basis for comparison but the unit seems fine. I thought I was going to have to do input switching on the remote when I wanted to go from satellite to OTA, etc. but the STB integrates all the stations nicely so all I have to do is use the channel up/down keys and I can scroll through every station no matter what the source whether cable, OTA, or satellite (and I'm using all three of the inputs too). I have it connected to a Sony 34XBR800 and all is well.

I just bought an HD-200 a few weeks ago. Generally speaking I am very happy with it - the OTA & Sat integration is great, the picture is SPECTACULAR (now I feel everyone else's pain around lack of content), and the optical audio out is great as well.
However, I have had a problem with it - caused me to return the first one and I have the same problem with the 2nd one...I'm either going to swap this one out as well with Circuit City or call Sony.
Specifically: When I run in 1080i DVI mode, after about 20-30 minutes there starts to be fairly significant problems with the picture. It doesn't happen at any other resolution with DVI, nor does it happen with Component cables at 1080i. Since the whole point of getting DVI is to be able to handle 1080i in the future if they start encrypting, this isn't acceptible to me...
Has anyone else noticed the problem? If there is a fix I'd like to know before I swap yet another one at Circuit City...

Hate to mention it, but could the problem be with the TV's DVI, not the STB...since you've had two Set-Top boxes...

You are right - it could be...good thing I bought the extended service policy on my TV :-)
I'll probably give this another day or two to see if anyone else is having the problem...if not, I'll assume it is indeed the TV and call in a tech...

Haven't had that problem. Running HD200 to a 51-WS500 via DVI. Only problems I had was two lockups within a half hour of activating directv (none since) and the annoying remote, which I have to point DIRECTLY at the box to use. I swear, it was easier to align the dish to the bird 50 million miles away than it is to change a channel from 4 feet.

I know it's new, but have you tried new batteries for that remote to see if there's a difference?

Unfortunatley, I can also attest to the crappy IR signal the remote uses. You have to point that thing directly at the box or nothing is happening at all.

The remote seems to be the only thing people REALLY dislike. I have a HD200 on order. Also considered the Samsung.
Is the remote bad enough that any of you recommend NOT getting the Sony box?

That's totally your decision. Personally, I wouldn't base my $800 purchase decision on whether I have to hold the remote up to use it or not.
But that's just me :D
