My dad just got a Toshiba 46hx83 and subscribes to Charter. I was surprised to hear he did not receive any local HD channels. He is in an area that receives both Milwaukee and Green Bay analog stations. I would think one of those markets would want their HD signals carried via Charter.

I have Charter out of the Richfield area, and we have been getting Channel 12 (ABC) in HD from Milwaukee for awhile. The just added the Fox, NBC, and CBS channels about a week ago, but the still don't appear as such on my DVR guide. My brother is a subscriber out of Fond du Lac, and they don't really have much. Apparently, it has something to do with not have contracts signed with the affiliates yet that has been holding up the process.

I live in Eau Claire and Charter has CBS, NBC, and ABC local channels in HD. Also ESPN, but no Fox and most of the Packers games are on Fox. Soon I hope!

I have Charter in Fond du Lac. I hear we should be getting Milwaukee network digital broadcasts soon. I found something by accident during setup of my new set. If you have a digital/hdtv ota tuner, try tuning in some of the digital channels above the analog's (100+). I found the Milwaukee stations broadcast up there on 103.1, 103.2, 104.1, and 104.2. No PBS, but do have Fox, CBS, NBC, and ABC. That keeps me happy for now, especially getting the HD broadcast of the Packer games.

I am also in Eau Claire, and we get HDNet, HDNet Movies, ESPN HD, Showtime HD, HBO HD, CBS, ABC, and NBC in HD. I've been bugging Charter about once a month on getting Discovery HD here, as many of their markets do carry it.

As for FOX, though, I'm sorry to say it will be quite a while. Our local FOX affiliate is FOX 25/48 (WLAX/WEUX), and their station is so behind the times they are not going to meet the FCC's mandate for the digital switch. They've kept applying for extension after extension, so unless Charter starts pulling in FOX from the Twin Cities, we will be stuck with the awful FOX picture we currently get.

Have you tried OTA yet for HD in Eau Claire? I have been thinking that we might be able to get Fox La Crosse or Minneapolis in HD with an OTA tuner and antenna.

I live in waupun which is near Fond du lac and am getting charter hdtv installed on tuesday. I was told I will get ABC,NBC,CBS AND FOX in hdtv. I just ordered the basic backage with a hdtv receiver from them. I also have dish networks complete package with hdtv and could not wait for them to give me local hdtv since nascar is very near. I was dreading watching nascar on dish network with its grainy picture on my 57 inch widescrean tv.

I was receiving all the major networks through my Charter cable out of Fond du Lac. Now, I can't get any of them to work. I had them for about 2 months, as long as I've owned the TV. Did everyone else lose these too??? Please respond to let me know either way if you still have them. Fox was 103.1, CBS was 104.1, and then there was ABC and NBC at 103.2, and 104.2, I think. Now, none of them work all of the sudden. Did charter block them or something?????? Please help! I miss my HDTV! ;-))

I am still receiving them. I watched the 500 today on Fox in HD. I don't think that Charter is officially offering them, the tech that installed my Moxi DVR didn't know anything about them. I better not lose them, may consider a dish and ota if I lose them. I really want them to be in the regular channel lineup so I can use them with the DVR. Good luck.

Charter in Fond du Lac area has taken away high definition (HD) networks from us. They were using all four of them out of Milwaukee. They jsut want to soak us for them so they can charge us more and require a cable box rental to descramble them. IT's completely ridiculous. I was getting them for about 2 months just through my cable (no box, no cable card--my set has built-in HD tuner.)

I encourage everyone to write and call Charter to complain. I have written several letters and called a bunch. If we keep bothering them, it might work.

I even had the cable guy come out here becuase they said I'd get networks in HD with the box. Another lie. They'll say anything to you to pay rent on one of those damn boxes!!!

I believe by FCC law they need to offer the locals in unscrambled QAM format like you were getting, might want to look into that and remind them of it... there are exceptions of course for small cable companies but if they were already offering them I don't think they fall under those exceptions...

Well i also am living in the Fond Du Lac area and just noticed since about the last week no more 103.1, 103.2, 103.3, 103.4 i was not real happy like the rest of you.

I then decided to do a channel scan again to see if they had moved them around or somthing. Here is what i found so far 83.1 cbs hd, 85.1 nbc hd there is also a siginal on 83.2 and 85.2 siginal meter is way above 90 but no pic and says i am not subscribed so they may be starting to scramble them.

also still looking for the other channels only at 91-12 right now will keep informed on what i find.

Charter in Eau Claire added some more channels recently:

PBSHD, CinemaxHD, and Discovery HD Theater. FINALLY.

Now we just need to get working on FOX. If only WEUX 48 didn't suck so bad.
