I have a Mitsubishi 55" HD1080 projection tv and I am looking at replacing my DTC-100 with the new Samsung HD receiver for DirecTV. Please tell me what cable I will need to buy to get this working.
Thanks,
Travis

Component cables would be sufficient.

Right now, with the DTC-100 I am using a db15 to 5-bnc cable. I think what I will need is a dvi to 5-bnc cable.

No you need component cables. Your TV does not have DVI input.

DVI is digital, BNC is analog, you just can't hook the two together...

Thanks for the explanation. I guess now I am confused as to why they make a dvi to 5-bnc cable if the two are not compatible.

Finding the cable is what convinced me this is what I needed.

Because there are various types of DVI - one of them analogue.

if you need a component cable for cheap, i am selling a monster video 2 cable for $20 and i will pay the shipping if you are interested. The guy that was supposed to buy from me never paid me so, it is still for sale.

Ok, so looks like component it is then. Am I going to lose quality by switching from my current setup to component? Will I get the same High Definition picture?

The picture will be fine, probably be better actually with the updated receiver.

How will an updated receiver be better (picture wise)?

Better MPEG software. Holds signals and combats multipath much better. Inoticed a huger improvement from my old Pioneer HD tuner to the Samsung. The Pioneer was a generation before the RCA.

With picture quality? Nah...
Reception sensitivity, multipath rejection, quicker channel change, etc... yeah, I agree.
But picture quality will be the same IMO.

Just to let you know, the samsung receiver has rgb out (db15) also, so I was able to use the same cable I was using from the dtc-100.
It's nice to have the much improved features, menu and guide.
