Hello all,
About to purchase my first HDTV and was looking for size help. My main seating will be between 8 to 10 feet from the screen. I'll looking at either the Sony RPLCD or the 50" Sony RPLCD. I'm the type the is finicky about picture quality, so would the 50" be too big.
Any suggestions??
A good rule of thumb is to sit no closer than 2X the screen size for SD programming. At 8', you'd be below that number and if you're finicky, that may make it worse.
You're right at the edge. Perhaps you can find a store that will let you sit in front of an SD image at your distance for a while?

No, When you first get the TV it may seem large but they shrink after usage. :D

I would say the 52". Because like kevin and blaster said - you will want a bigger one soon enough.
