I picked up the KF42WE620 on Saturday and I'm getting used to the new setup. Because my BEV is VDSL based I cannot get HDTV so I'm switching to Rogers. I will have the new service this coming Saturday. Looking forward to seeing the football in HD.

So far we have been viewing a few DVD's and I'm very happy with the PQ. This replaced a 28 15 year old Toshiba so having this is like a small movie screen :)

I will try and post a review once I get the HD service. It will be a laymen review as I'm new to this stuff.

I'm assuming that in your switch to Rogers you've taken advantage of their "Realchoice" offer, which is good for BEV and Starchoice. You get to trade in your receivers and get free programming for a couple of months.

Many people have been able to negotiate the SA8000HDs (free rental for as long as you stay with Rogers.) How this works with VDSL, I don't know, but you are "switching" so you should get something.

If the first CSR doesn't get you an HD-DVR, call back and try another... Or get the HD-DVR by paying the "extra" $5/mo difference for the SD/HD DVR. You should get an HD-DVR if you say you have an HDTV...

As I've stated, many people have managed to negotiate the SA8000HD. If you are going to get broadband internet from Rogers, check out their bundles, as they are priced very competitively and allow you to get a lot of channels for very little more money...

Hey thanks for the info. I will look to see if I can get this deal. I think that I should be able to since I'm doing a switch.

Sorry for the newbie ? but what is a SA8000HD. Is this the HD Tuner and Recorder?

Have you been happy with Rogers for the HD programming?

SA8000HD = HD DVR. Search for the model number - see the "official" thread.

I'm very happy! No one I know will give up their SA8000HD... It changes the way you watch TV.

The official thread discusses some "issues" with the STB, however, it's well worth it and the next firmware upgrade should solve most/all of the issues.
