I have the Mitsubishi Gold series, widescreen HDTV and also have the Dishnetwork satellite system. I am researching the HDTV receivers for my tv. Any suggestions where I should start? or what kind of HDTV receiver I should buy? I am also looking into the home theater system and dvd. I'm definately a novice at this. Any advice would be appreciated.

I recently bought the 65869 (HD built in). I also subscribe to Dish. I decided to have an antenna installed on my roof for now instead of purchasing the $600 box. I decided not to upgrade my Dish system to HD because I heard Dish will offer a new HD box with the hard-disk-built-in recorder in 2003 (similar to the 500 model but HD). You will need a HD box in order to receive HD broadcasts. No sense in buying 2 boxes, one to receive signals in the free sky and one from Dish. If you can wait for the new box it will be worth it. Recording HD can only be done by a select few VCR's that cost about $850-950. I don't know what the ETA is on the new box. If you find out you can tell me. Good luck.

Ask the vendor about thier return policy. If the TV craps out (technical term for unit will not turn on) like my 65909 did six weeks after purchase, will it be replaced on notice within the warrenty period or will you have to wait a month or more for someone to drop by to fix it because that is Mitsubishi's corporate position (never authorize replacement until proven the TV cannot be fixed)? Suggest you get the words in writing signed by someone in authority. Read my posts on flashing timer light. I will never again buy a Mitsubishi.
