On the AVIA disc after you do the blue filter test and you move on to the section to determine red push, I'm not sure if I'm understanding this correctly.
Are they saying that the +15% or +20% red block is the one that should most closely resemble the background?
I'm assuming that the red setting is more crucial in this section than the green setting. And if I heard correctly the guy on the disc did say that in this section you should only make the adjustments using the color setting and not the Hue (or Tint) correct?
And additionally, once I've gone through and completed the section to determine the "red push" (this section I've mentioned above), there are some other adjustment screens. Do I need to do those as well? The previous screens set up white and blackness and the blue filter.
I'm heading for work but I'll take my Avia with me. Someone else may get your questions answered before I do.
If everything was perfect, the background would match the colors at 0 (zero), I believe that the red can go as high as +15, +20 and still be ok.
But I need to review the DVD to be sure. Been a while

Sorry for the late reply, we had a 'mains' power failure last night and it got quite busy :)
On the color decoder check, he says that +15 to +20% is 'reasonable' when checking the red blocks. As I said, zero across the board would be perfect.
You adjust the SATURATION if needed during the color decoder check, you do not adjust the HUE. (depending on the set, saturation = color and hue = tint)
He also says that people don't object to green push as much as red push.
Listen to him explain the color decoder check again.
Good luck,
Lee

Thanks. I did go over it again and turned the color down a bit. I seems to be pretty natural now.

Some sets allow you to change the color decoder settings to get rid of red or green push. This is often in the service menu though.

Aftter going through the 4 main settings (Picture, Brightness, Color, Tint) on the AVIA disc I have to admit the color and tint settings just didn't look very natural. When I was watching Tom Brokaw on the Nightly news (after doing the settings with the AVIA disc) he just looked like he had too much of an orange glow (similiar to how people look on the sets at Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.).
Now supposedly I guess the AVIA disc is suppose to aid in giving the most natural results but as a result of the AVIA disc I came up with
Color: 31
Tint: 38
These were on a 62 count scale.
I've since adjusted them to
Color: 25
Tint: 36
ANYONE ELSE WITH THE PANASONIC PT-43LC14?? I'd love to know what settings you came up with.

I know you're out there!!!!
Curious what any of you have come up with for Picture, Brightness, Color, and Tint settings etc. using DVE or AVIA disc (Preferably AVIA).

Give it up!
This has been discussed many times...
No two sets will/can have the same settings nor do you or J6P have the same eyes/preferences.

True no two sets are the same and owners will have different preferences but is it really so wrong for someone to inquire? It helps in giving some sort of a playing ground to work around in. After all that's what the site is for isn't it?

No... wasting electrons and rehashing topics is bad enough, let alone potentially confusing other newbies with mis-information.
You can have 5 different individuals that have the same set as you, calibrated with the same DVD player, using Avia. I have $100 that says all 5 will have different settings/preferences. (and that could probably be narrowed down to two)
How does that help you or anyone... IMO?

You need a tech. Sounds like service mode issues for adjusting the color decoder. If you have 2 much orange and can not adjust it out, time to call in an expert.
