I know everybody loves Mits and hates Sonys here, well maybe not that bad but it seems that the consensus is that the Mits is a better HDTV. Picture and value wise.

I was originally considering the Sony KP65WV600 vs. the Mits plat+ WS65611 but after seeing the Mits I was really disappointed with the glare screen. You can really really see the warp on the edges of the screen. You don't even have to look for it, it's there. Then Sony cuts the price on the WV700 so now I can get it for the same price for the Mits.

So now I really can't say the Sony is over priced. I think the double coated AR screen in the Sony is well worth it. My so called top of the line Panasonic (few years old) has this warp on the top left on the screen and it has always bugged me.

I still love the picture on the Mits but I can't live with the flimsy glare screen. BTW I have a 2 yr old so I can't take the glare screen off. I don't know the cost of upgrading the screen but Im sure its not cheap.

So Mits fans please convince me to buy the WS65611. And is someone going to tell me that the uniform screen brightness, the double coated AR screen, and DRC is really worth it.

BTW, the USB really works. This is the first RPTV that I have seen that has this wide vertical viewing angle. Whether you're standing up or sitting on the floor doesn't really make that big of the difference.

I've also heard that Sony's processing does a better job with inferior analog signals and their strech modes are more watchable. Comments?

HELP!!!!!! I want to purchase the TV asap.

Ask the vendor about thier return policy. If the TV craps out (technical term for unit will not turn on) like my 65909 did six weeks after purchase, will it be replaced on notice within the warrenty period or will you have to wait a month or more for someone to drop by to fix it because that is Mitsubishi's corporate position (never authorize replacement until proven the TV cannot be fixed)? Suggest you get the words in writing signed by someone in authority. Read my posts on flashing timer light. I will never again buy a Mitsubishi.

I just bought a Mits 65511 and I love it. I highly recommend it. As to the anti-glare screen, I see the warped edge, too. This is because it is a thin plastic/acrylic sheet. I only notice it when there is too much light in the room to watch TV anyway (direct sunlight against the screen or strong reflections. I honestly think you will have these problems no matter what set you buy. And unless the anti-glare screen is make of coated glass (read EXPENSIVE), you will have difficulty keeping the edges flat. Again, when watching movies (with the lights low/off) I don't even notice it's there.

Time to upgrade my DVD player to a progressive scan now!

I'm glad youy like your Mits. I really love the picture on it but the warped edges just doesn't work for me. One thing that's great about the Sony is that they use a (very) much thicker plastic. Actually the way they mounted the glare screen is sweet. Not such a big fan of the silver plastic cabinet though.

I paid for the Sony, its going to be delivered on Saturday! Hopeully its good out of the box and I don't have to tweak it so much with my Avia disk.
