I have one. Battling w/BBY as we speak. On the surface I really like it, however I'm experiencing a problem and am not sure if it's the particular set or the model. On all channels it occurs but most notably on HD channels w/side bars. It kind of flickers it's brightness in and out. Seems like a real problem. I'm trying to exchange it for another one now and because no store close to me has one in stock they are trying to tell me I have to make two trips. One to return, and then they can order it, one to pick up. I didn't have it delivered so I'm getting the runaround. I offered to do it at the local warehouse but they won't do it until a store processes the exchange. I have a call in with the district office and will hold them to task to only go to one place to do the exchange or even ask for a delivery in good faith for all of the bother I've had this morning. If the next one has the same problem, I'm going in another direction. As far as the set-One setback is no horizon, or panoramic aspect ratio for the component or DVI input. So when watching analog or digital, you get a horizontal full stretch. Changing inputs allows you to use the 'horizon' (modified stretch) aspect ratio. DVI cable included, so that's good, but I don't use it. Nice colors, Contrast ratio is very high so ED looks really impressive. Pretty good selections for audio if you use it w/o a surround system. I have it in the bedroom so no need for 5.1. Last nights Louisville v Memphis game looked awesome. I'm impressed for the price with the obvious caveat of the flicker. It might be nothing but we'll see.

Update-Manager at BBY has seen this flicker before and it's common. I wouldn't buy this TV. He gave me an offer to exchange the Zenith and get the Panasonic for $2499 + tax and free delivery. I jumped on it. Any thoughts?
I don't know this for sure but I suspect the Zenith is probably a rebadged LG 42PX11 or similar set.
There's a massive thread on these LG plasmas here:
http://www.avforums.com/frame.html?http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138556
There's lots of good reading there, although some misinformation as well.
The issue of the flickering bars comes up starting about page 12. One theory is it might be some kind of 'feature' to vary the bars or the screen position to protect the plasma.
Another theory (one which I believe is probably closest to the truth) is that the video processor has an algorithm to balance the luminance out based on the picture content.
Does your flickering happen at the same time on the same movies?
Some of the possible solutions to the flickering issue:
- make sure your set has "Low Power" set to on (very likely you don't need it in full power mode unless you're viewing it outside!)
- try increasing your contrast and lowering your brightness. Lots of people suggesting contrast=80 and brightness=55-60 and color=35 to 50.
- try turning off XD engine mode
- go into the service menu and under "Panel Control" change Gamma value from 0 to either 1 or 2. Speculation is a non-zero setting cures the flickering, but the selection of gamma 1 vs gamma 2 is a personal choice.
