I am looking into purchasing a new hdtv and the new SONY kdf-55wf655 has caught my eye. I am still new to the HD world so bare with me, but I was wondering whether this particular set displays the picture in 720p or 1080i. How can I tell?

The jibberish above is the link to sonystyle.com where the specs for the TV are displayed. I'm not sure if this forum creates an auto link but if not I guess you could just copy and paste it. Thank you in advance to all those who reply.

This is an LCD-based RPTV. Although the number of vertical pixels don't show on the link you provided, I believe this TV converts all incoming formats to 788P.

I was correct, click on the specifications tab - 788 x 1386.

Sorry for posting in the wrong section; I'm still getting used to the site. Thank you for the prompt reply though. So if the tv displays 788p than it would be included in the small percentage of tv's that natively display 720p right? Isn't 720p supposed to be slightly better, especially in the case of sports programs, than 1080i? I don't want to start a debate because I have read enough of those on this site. I just want to confirm that tid bit of info though.

Hey I just bought one of these TV's (the 55'' LCD RPTV) from SEARS this last week. Its being delivered tuesday. I had the very same question as you - thanks 57U. I myself am wondering if its wise to get some kind of AC line conditioner which may increase the lifetime of the bulb.

Had mine for a couple of days now. I'm getting the hdtv comcast cable box delivered today. I can't wait to see what this baby can really do with an hdtv box and an hdmi cable!

Yesterday. Whoa...Hooked up the DVR. Check. DVD. Check. XBOX. Check.

Watched Pacers Twolves. Wow.

Skynard Live. Wow

Alien 480P DVD. Unreal.

Halo 2. Killer!

This tv rules. If it breaks I will weep.

Even Bill O'Reilly doesnt look so bad.

Then I watched a show about golfing in Mauna Kea on HD - insanity!

All this stuff that i have been worrying about re: PQ and color balancing....BAH! If these are your worries, then worry no more.
