I just got my 60xs, and oh how I love it!!!!
What I'm tring to do is run one sound cable out of the tv into my surround sound system using the opt aud out. So I have my DVD going in HDMI and then I have xbox, Ps2, and Tivo, cable. I thought I could just run my opt aud out frome the tv into my Sur.Sound opt aud in. Now I have never used this on my sur. sound, so it could be that I don't have the settings right!!

The sound from the dvd through the HDMI works great to the tv. So nice just using one cable. And man xbot looks great and I don't even have the HD kit for it yet.

As far as PQ, reg cable looks good
but HD....WOW!!!!
the TV has really good sound too!!
I really do love this TV!!!
Basic Set up was very easy!! :hyper: :wow:

I think to use Audio out, you need to set TV speaker to off. Check the manual, they may have said something about it in there.

I shut the speakers on the tv off, and the aud out line did work.

But I still can't get the opt aud out to work.

Any more idea's???? :stuckthum

I got the HD kit for Xbox I really didn't see that much diff. It looks really good either way.

:rofl2:

Check for other menu items in the TV to turn on the optical out. If you have a pdf file of the operating manual (usually downloadable from the manufacturer's website) you can search for keywords like optical.

You can run the optical connection from the DVD player to the A/V receiver directly. With the HDMI connected, you may also need to turn this on in the DVD player - don't know if it does parallel audio.

Yes, I need to make sure that it's not just the Surr Sound system or the opt cable thats messing up, for all I know the tv might be putting out the sound just fine.

Could be wrong but im betting that optical output only works when using the Built in HD tuner and a HD broadcast

All digital channels have Dolby Digital sound. HD should have nothing to do with it, but you could be right about the ATSC (not HD) tuner...

so if I had a cable card and cable going right in to the tv, then the opt out might work. That could be!!
