I recently received a brand spankin' new WS520 in replacement of my WS500 which had the flicker issue twice, so they just sent me a brand new TV.
And...
:guiny:
It looks great and I haven't even turned the thing on yet!
I was wondering if I should be able to use the same key code sequences and tweaks found for the WS500 and 510, mainly I am going to check the convergence manually, get rid of the red push, and so some of the tweaks found here.

Does anyone have experience with this? Knowing Sony Models it * Should * work just fine... but was curious if anyone has had first hand experience.
Thanks :)

They *should* be the same. I used the 500 for my 510.

Welp, good news and bad news.
Bad news is it seems a lot different in there. So I didn't want to mess around too much.
The good news is, I now have a manual convergence feature from the main menu now which the WS500 didn't have, and after going through a THX set up disk for brightness, contrast, colors and sharpness, (my friend is borrowing my Avia tools) the set looks above and beyond anything I could have imagined.
I am still in awe in how good this set looks right out of the box. So far all I have done was enable noise reduction, soften a picture a bit, did a manual convergence after 30-45 mins or so of the set being on for the first time, and it looks better in HD and my DVD movies (Xbox too!) then any set I have seen out there. I wanted to check red push, but being as the service menu is completely different from the above tweak, I do not want to try doing anything on my own.
Kudos to Sony. My flicker issue was repaired once, and started happening again. Once that happened they sent out a tech to verify it, and sent me a brand new 520 Manf. Oct 2004 with a new 1 year warranty.
These guys really took care of me this time around.
I LOVE this set.

I never had the 500, so I dunno about that, however, I have had the 520 for about a month and I delved into the service menu the day I got the thing.
Now, To change the Red Push just go into the service menu and press the number "2" on your sony remote 3 times. You should be under the "COLR" tab. Now press the number "1" 18 times or until you see "AXIS" under the "COLR" tab. Now you should see in the third column , second row, "Full". Above that I think you will see a "1". Simply press the number "6" so that it changes from a "1" to a zero. Press "Muting" on your remote and then "Ent" ( the button to the right of the "0" on the remote. That saved it and now your red push is eliminated.
I also think that you will find that many of the tweaks from the site that you noted in your first post have already been done by SONY. I think I changed like 2-3 things from that article about a month ago when I found it.

I've had my 57ws520 for about two weeks and done any tweaks as of yet. I have noticed a little focus decay though in the past few days. Other than that I'm really happy with this set. Although I'm still really paranoid about playing xbox on it. I am going to change the red push today, are there any other settings that you guys would recommend??

Do your settings in pro or movie mode - that way SVM is off. Don't worry too much about your XBox - I've been playing my PS2 a bit on mine and it hasn't hurt it. Just don't play for more than a few hours and you'll be fine. HTH

How can XBox or PS hurt the TV?
I just got the 520 delivered last week... I'm getting red "static" lines throughout my picture (on HD and regular cable). Would manual convergence help with this?
