One word!……………….. Sweeeeeeeeeeeet.
An HD DVD player recorder which is backwards compatible with your current dvds.
Lets see a built in 160 GB hard drive with the ability to record 20 hrs of HD programming or dump 3 hrs of HDTV onto a 25 GB Blu-ray disc. In addition the recorder has dual Blu-ray disc/DVD tray to allow digital dubbing in six directional combinations to and from the hard drive, DVD’s or Blu-ray disc. :D

Looks good, but I'd rather see what format wins out of that and the HD-DVD first before making an investment in either.

i'll bet my money on HD-DVD over BLuRay....they have a great group of supporters - SONY(owns the movie studio) Panasonic - etc...Hewlett Packard is supporting it too - computer co. are very important in making this the defacto standard - NOBODY wants a format war - it's sooooo boring!

Pretty pricey. Looks like high def DVDs probably won't become mainstream & more affordable 'til at least '06 or so, according to the article. At least our current equipment won't be outdated 'til then.

When the format war ends, the prices should be cheaper.

the sooner the better, my tv craves high resolution and i would like to give it what it was made for with the new formats.
