View Full Version : Drifting Convergence

It seems my convergence does not hold its place very well. I have to go in and move the settings almost every time I watch TV. The red gun, mostly. At times, the blue
Another observation is that the crosses in the corner seem out of focus and washed out compared to the center cross which is clear and crisp. Is there a way to correct or adjust this?
Is there something I can do about the constant drift of the guns? I am thinking of trying to get into the service menu and do a 64 point convergence adjustment, but am unsure if this will help. Any advice?
I have a JVC Av48wp30
Thanks

I ordered a service manuel from a website and did the blue, red, and green convergence from the service menu, today. So far, the guns are not drifting and I don't have the red lines around white letters anymore.

Remember that there will be some "drift" with temperature, so always compare after the TV has been on for at least 1/2 hour. Also, do the convergence on a "warm" TV.

I let the TV warm up for about 45 min then did service manual convergence.
I also found out that it is best to do convergence with a signal going to the TV. When I looked at convergence with no signal, the red lines were off a bit. I thought "Great, I have to do it all over again." Then I turned on the DirecTV receiver and the lines lined up.
Yeah, the convergence instructions for the Hitachi TV say to tune to an NTSC signal... Sorry yours didn't.

For those that may not know...
Don't bother too much with a service adjustment of the convergance until the set has about 100 hours +/- of run time on it.
Alot of people get a set, and the next day adjust... and then see the convergance "drift"... You're going to get a constant "drift" before the 100 hour mark in most cases.
PS: As others have pointed out let the set get GOOD and warmed up....
Curious... How many hours are on the set?...
PS: I see the org date of thread was 11-22-2004, and todays date is 08-29-2005 so I am sorry for bringing back an old thread, but I felt people should know that adjusting a set before the 100 hour mark is pretty much a waste of time.
