I was intrigued by the other posts about the HD DVR being available in other Brighthouse markets, and called Brighthouse to see if the Orlando marketplace has HD DVR service available. The first CSR I spoke to said no, it would be available by the end of the year. The 2nd CSR I spoke to said approx. 2 weeks. Has anyone else heard whether there has been an update to when we can actually get the HD DVR installed?

In the month of december, you can call back and ask to be put on the waiting list to receive one and that should set you up.

I asked if there was a wait list, and they said there was not. Has anyone else been successful in getting the box or getting put on the wait list yet?

I stopped into the Brighthouse office near me last Thursday (on Maguire Rd. in Ocoee) and asked if they had the HD DVR's yet.. The girl behind the counter said they have them in stock, but they are not allowed to give them out yet.... killing me.

Update.. for anyone watching this thread...

I got a call from Bright House Promo dept. today (Sat 1/22) and I will have my HD DVR on Tuesday morning! YAY!!! They also asked if I have DVI or HDMI input.. (I do have HDMI) this is good... because untill now I have been using their HD box component because they offered no DVI to HDMI..

can't wait!

I got a postcard in the mail today saying my hd dvr is in and to call to set up an appointment. Their next appointment slot was friday. They refuse to allow you to pick up the hd dvr and hook it up yourself.

Got my postcard Tuesday, called about 830pm, csr said just stop by local BHN office and pick one up. I wonder which CSR screwed up? :( From other posts if I remember correctly, the BHN in tampa bay were picking up at local office and installing themselves. After waiting a year if they screw this up, I just might go with VOOM, all the HD programming just might make up for lack of DVR.

If BHN makes installation an issue will make sure everyone in lobby is aware of screwup, then try another office! I already have BHN's non-hd DVR, maybe that's the difference?

Thanks for the update 98clru. Looks like your csr was correct. I called again and they said I can go pick it up at the local office.

Funny... The CSR that called me said I could not pick it up.. but there was no charge for the install... And a note on the HDMI cable... well... they asked me if I had DVI or HDMI.. I told them HDMI... the paper work that came with the tech said HDMI.. he had no idea what that was.. infact,.. HE ASKED ME if the cable hhe was holding was the right one... IT WAS AN RCA CABLE :drool2: ...sigh..

So I stopped by my local office, they said they don't supply HDMI, then I called the 800 number,.. same story there. THEN WHY DID THEY ASK?

oh well.. thats my biggest fear with all of these advances in consumer technology. The vendors simply cannot supply a work force that is educated in the changes.

On a good note, the HD box is in and working well. Gonna take some getting used to.. been a Tivo junkie for almost 5 years. I will NEVER like the A-B-C crap on these remotes..

I'm in Palm Bay, southeast of Orlando and I also got the postcard. I called and they are bringing out the HD DVR box for me on 1/29. $9.99 additional per month. Is that what you're paying in Orlando? My cable bill is getting huge. I already subscribe to the HD pack for HDNet, INHD and ESPN, plus I get roadrunner. My cable bill is approaching ridiculous levels. :wow:

I hope this works better than the other DVR they had. I had two of them die and the third one would be super slow and crash from time to time. Hey, that's why we lease the boxes and not buy them I guess. I hope the HD DVR is more stable.

I received my SA8300HD DVR this week. The tech showed up saying he read a memo stating that the HDMI port may or may not work. Sure enough, it would not work using HDMI (yes my hdtv is hdcp compliant). So he hooked me up using component (works great, but now I have 5 cables running through my wall instead of 1 HDMI).

Does anyone know what's up with the HDMI port with Brighthouse in Central FL????

A friend of mine who lives in Melbourne got the same unit, and his HDMI is working. He is using it. He got a HDMI-to-DVI converter cable online because his TV takes DVI but the box is obviously HDMI. He says it works fine(although the HDMI audio part might not work because he's not using it). Yours should work unless Brighthouse is Orlando is doing something different from Brighthouse in Melbourne.

On mine I'm using the components because they are technically just as good (for CRT HDTVs), and I'm using the coax digital audio output from the box.

I picked up an HDMI cable, and it works, however, using HDMI forces the box to drop audio from Dolby Digital to Prologic or stereo. I do remember reading about that little problem elsewhere on this forum, I believe it is a firmware bug on SA's part.

I don't even want to call Brighthouse to talk about this issue because I'm sure I would get more a pertinent response by asking my dog.

I also would like to know if the SATA port on the back is active. I sure would be nice to add and external HD or 3.... :drool11:

I live in Longwood and I was supposed to get HDDVR last week. I got a call from Brighthouse informing me that they ran out of boxes and cancelled my appointment. So I am still waiting. What a joke!
