I don't know about you guys, and I'm not on here very often so there may be a lengthy discussion already about this, but these format wars of the the next generation dvd are starting to piss me off. I mean the consumer will bear the brunt of the war. I'm not going to buy two players, one for each format so that I can watch all of my favorite movies in hd format. Does anyone know what companies are going with each format? With the way I am this is just going to add many more hours of research before a purchase of a new player when they are released. Sorry had to vent.

as far as i'm concern, R&D cost a crap load of money, so they can duke it out anyway they want.. the bottom line is the ability to deliver to the cusumer a superior product. so i'm all for it. over the weekend i saw hero on dvd, with an upconverting dvd player the the pic quality was awesome, so i know watching it on a hd dvd will be hot.. (i can most definitely wait)
