Hello guys

I am definitely a bumpkin when it comes to this stuff. I have been reading some of the forums and have learnt a lot.

Here is my current setup:

JVC 52" D-ILA
Klipsch quintets with the 12" sub
monster cable used as much as possible
Sony dolby digital 5.1 reciever (for sale - would like to buy 7.1 Denon)
Sony 5 disc DVD/CD
Sony PS2
Sony touchscreen LCD remote
Motorola HDTV cablebox with DVR (service from mchsi.com)

We are looking to move the 5 disc upstairs and getting a denon dvd-1910 coz its price is quite fair (239.95 at Ultimate) and the reviews seem good overall.

For the price (close to it), is there any other good upscaling DVD player others would like to recommend!

Also, on connecting this stuff, I used the component(RGB) from the cablebox into the Iput 2 on my TV and the digital out to my reciever? Is the HDMI better?

If I get the Denon and use the HDMI(not sure) plug to the back of my TV, can I still send the digital from the back of the denon into my reciever?

The TV only has one HDMI input on back - which is better to plug into the back - DVD or cablebox?

Thanks - I appreciate your input!

KC

Save your HDMI input for your upscaling DVD. Let me know if it works out.

Well, I purchased the denon-755 (1910 in a silver case) from Ultimate Electronics with the DVI to HDTV conversion cable.

Seems like I can tell a bit of a difference, but I am having setup issues.

The 1910 has options for 460->720->1080.

I think the D-ILA is 720p, so I set it at 720. The JVC has a 480 size setting, but the manual doesnt say much about the 720 and 1080 :mecry: Neither does the Denon manual...So, I am hoping I have it set right.

If no one else responds to this thread, I may start a new one!

Thanks!

If I understand you - you have it set right. Like my tv's native is 1080i so I set my denon at 1080i.

I am having new problems with the TV. Purple clouds are seen in all dark scenes. I posted a seperate thread in the newbie section. Please do read it if you can and comment! Thanks!
