Well, just this past weekend I bought a Sony 51WS520 HDTV... It won't be delivered until December 21st though :( I currently own a Panasonic RP-62 dvd player that I have had for about 2 years now... I actually did not know what a good dvd player this was until I came to this site... The serial # does not contain a B "KS2HA004016 Aug02"... So does this mean it has the Faroudja chip with Dcdi? I really want to get the best quality picture from my new HDTV and was wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade to a Dennon 1910 dvd player? Would I be able to see a noticeable picture quality difference on my TV with a Dennon 1910 upconverting dvd player as compared with Panasonic RP-62 with the Faroudja chip? Or should I Just keep the panasonic, and spend the extra money to get my tv calibrated by an ISF? Thanks

IMO... I would keep the Panny until it dies.

It's been praised a being a very good unit.
Don't know about serial # specific units with DCDi, but it's advertised as having the FLIxxxx chipset.

I have 2 of the Panasonic RP-56 with the "A" serial numbers. Both are under the bed for safe keeping. One is slighly scratched on the front face, the other is like new in the factory box. I currently use my Yamaha DVD-S2300.
