I am thinking about upgrading from i/o digital HD box to the new
SA 8300 HD DVR. Can I use a dvd recorder to burn a copy of a tv show
or game recorded on the SA 8300?

thanks for your replies

Sure - via an S-video connection for video and the appropriate audio connection. Your recording will be 480i, of course.

Anything you record goes on channel 1000. So basical when you want to record a certain show play it and then record off of channel 1000. Like you would on any channel

If the programme is already on the HDD (previously recorded) you should be able to use the "copy to VCR" function. I'm not sure if that only goes out the composite video port, or if it goes out S-video as well. I have not yet used this function.

If you were to tune to another channel, I believe the S-video port would "send" that channel, instead of what's on the HDD. The "copy to VCR" function should allow "background" recording so if PQ is not of the utmost importance, you may wish to use a composite instead of S-video connection.
