I'm interested in getting this player because of the Faroudja chip to go with my Sony 34" 34hs420 WS HDTV set, and would like to know how it looks using the component connection? The added upconversion is a bonus for me but i'm mainly interested because i would like to use the component connection instead of the upconversion. I would get the denon 910 if all i wanted was a player that had just the F-chip, but i heard it has issues with Sony HDTV sets, and that this newer model corrected it, is this true?

I would hate to buy this only to find out it has the flickering issues as the 910 did from what i heard around the net.

Also if i can use the upconversion of this player can i get 480p through the DVI connection? or is it better with th component connection since i heard there has been macroblocking over DVI.

I just want to get the best possible picture quality out of my dvd;s and i thought this player would make a good choice if i used either the component or DVi connection.

If i do use the upconversion i would have to get an HDMI to DVI adapter cable since my tv has an HDMI connection and not an DVI connection.

My curretnt dvd player is a Sony SLV-D550P progressive scan dvd/vcr combo player, and although i think it's ok with my movies, i just think i can get better dvd picture quality with the denon out there since it has the faroudja chip.

Will it give me a sharper picture with the Faroudja chip?

I'll likely be getting this from crutchfield for christmas.

Any thoughts?

Yes - it is the newer model. I also do not have any issues with my sony tv.

Yes - it will do everything except 480i over DVI. From what I can tell - it only experiences macroblocking when doing 1080i with a crappy PQ disk.

That's why I got one.

My denon's PQ blows away my old sony dvd player. I don't think you will be disapointed.

My attention has moved to this dvd player also. Is the Denon DVD-755S really the Denon DVD-1910 but in silver? :headscrat

LOL! I read and read and could not decide for like 2 months on which player I should get. THE ONLY reason I would not get the 1910 is if you are wanting DVD-audio, etc. Since I have no interest in that - I think it is the best of what is available now for the price and features/quality.
