hey folks, I have comcast cable and the motorall 5100 (I think that is the number) HDTV digital cable box. Does anyone know if the additional audio outputs are active? There are an additional set on the back and on the front of the unit. I currently have rca cables going from the main audio out to my reciever, which only has one set of audio inputs. I want to run my playstation audio through my receiver as well. I can get the picture for the playstation by going s video in to the reciever, but since it only has one audio inout, Im trying to run through the additional audio outs on the digital box. I cant seem to find how to change the oputputs on the comcast box so that it sends the playstation audio and not the tv audio. Any help will be most appreciated!!

Your STB won't do what you ask. You'll need to run the audio to your A/V receiver somehow, with a switcher or combiner, or some other method.

57U - thanks for the replay. Just curious though, why does the box have to additional audio and video ins? Is it for future use or some type of firmware update?

If all you want is analogue audio (RCA jacks) you can buy a pair of piggyback cables, or two "Y-connectors" and simply feed both signals into your receiver. Be sure not to have both "sending" units turned on at the same time - or get a switch.

You could try feeding the audio "through" the STB, but you'd likely have to feed the video through there too - (if this works). You'd have to read the manual for the 5100 to see how (or if) it then "sends" this signal out to the receiver. Your receiver would need to be set to the "input" for the STB.
