I have a new samsung with a problem HLP-4663W. Actually this is my second one in 2 weeks - the first died after 3 days.

Comparing this second unit to my first, the picture seems fuzzier. A white box on screen has red edging on the top left, and blue on the right. I didn't think that DLP units had an alignment setting, but perhaps I am wrong? I tried entering the service menu but there are far too many settings with cryptic acronyms.

Is there a simple focus / alignment process that someone can take me through? Would the service manual tell me this? (I'm prepared to buy one if it explains the acronyms and takes me through the alignment steps).

Thanks,
Mike

Your set is a one chip DLP. No convergence should be necessary.

Maybe it just needs a focus adjustment. Why not call for service. You've paid for it...

Will out of focus cause color seperatation ? If so it sounds like an easy fix.

I'm an electronically savy user (not a pro), and part of my really wants to play with the unit :)

I saw a bulb replacement door on the back. Can I access focus from there?

Thanks,
Mike
