Would like opinions on ordering HDTV online. Looks like you can save a lot of money by ordering online. What happens if you get a bad tv. Would I be responable to ship it back or would factory rep. do an in house repair. If it is ok to order online, which online stores are best to use. Thanks

Read through some of the threads in the "HDTV Buying Experiences" forum.

I got my best price online, brought it to my local dealer, and he matched it - even though it was at least a $500 difference. Had he NOT matched it, I would have placed the order online.

I got an RCA 44" DLP from Big Bang Electronics and had no problems what so ever. It was delivered by truck and it worked great right out of the box.

My advice is to go through a trusted retailer with a well integrated customer service center such as Amazon or BEstBuy. I know with Amazon they do a lot of drop shipping so there is no middleman and you save $$$$$.

Make sure it's an "Authorized Dealer" listed on the manufacturer's web site so there are no warranty issues. Be aware that some do not accept returns. Read the fine print.
I had great success and saved $500+ compared to local retailer's "on sale" price.
