This is what I have:

Hitachi 53SWX12B
Comcast Cable
Comcast Digital Set top box
Comcast HD receiver box

I receive 4 channels in HD. I have been experiencing a momentary loss of picture.....screen goes black for a moment and comes back on. The lights on the HD receiver box remain on and without a flicker. Is it the Hitachi or the Comcast signal? Any others having the same problem.

Thanks

I would think that could be any number of things. As long as your connections all seem good and solid then I would guess it is either Comcast or the originating broadcaster of the signal. But that's just a guess and perhaps some more knowledgeable folks might have some other ideas to try.

Momentary losses of HD signal from Cable are quite common. As long as it only lasts a few seconds. If you experience more problems, call your cable company. It is also quite common to lose audio on occasion for a second or two. When you lose audio, you sometimes have to change away from the station you were watching and then back to it to "re-lock" the signal. Again, if it becomes a long term, or regular problem report it to the cable company. They usually have a special line for "lost signal" use it as the wait period should be quite brief, unless there is a major outage, in which case you may not even be able to get through because of the thousands of other people calling... If that happens, you'll know they're working on a resolution.

i have read on other boards that this is a bandwidth problem. during busy scenes there is a lot of data change and the datastream is limited by the signal bandwidth. most scenes have little data change, maybe just movement of the actors, the background is fairly constant with littlle change in data . as such your receiver can not get the required data to present a picture and so it goes blank for a second or two until the data catches up.
