Could someone please let me know how to access the service menu for my AV48WP30?

Not sure... but try this:
Access the service mode: set SLEEP TIMER to 0 MIN.
While this is still displayed, simultaneously push DISPLAY and
VIDEO STATUS.

Thanks for the response, I gave it a whirl but to no success. Anyone else with a suggestion?

I have the same TV as you, and Ratman was correct with his suggestion. The service menu pops up after doing what he says.

That worked! I must have had fat fingers before. Thanks. Any suggestions on tweaks you have made in your menu? Now I'll have to take a day off to investigate this! Oh one question... When you push the input button and the list comes up in the right corner (video 1, video 2, etc...) at one point in time mine was colored grey, now it is blue. I have checked all the picture settings, and all picture quality is fine whether it be DVD, or TV. Any suggestions? Was just concerned that something may be goofed. Thanks for your time! :rofl2:

When I push the input button, and it pops up on the screen, where the word "input" is, it is blue. Where it says "video 1", "video2" etc., they are grey. When one is selected, the background on that one is green.
I haven't done many tweaks. I have brought up the service menu, like you did, but I don't have enough knowledge to go messing with all the numbers. I have opened the front and pushed the little button to bring up the service menu alignment grids for the convergence. I bought a service manual to guide me through all the steps to make sure I got it right. I also have used Sound and Vision Home Theater Tune Up to help set some setting, though it seems I might do better just by eyeballing it. I am always messing with the color, contrast and tint.

I have done the same, PLaying with the convergence, and color etc... I have used the sound and vision guide but was not to excited about the results. Do you have you temp setting at low or high? I have mine set at high with the theater preset on. I am curious to voyage into the service menu but like you not sure on all the numbers. Where did you get your manual from? Is it pretty thorough? Like in my previous post when I push input and the box appears mine use to be gray, but now its blue, (the background is bluish gray, and all the text is a light blue). Thought something was up, maybe the kids were messing around but there has been no picture degrade. Have you had any issues with your set? Mine is two years old and knock on wood, no issues...

I got my service manual from www.servicemanuals.net. It came on a CD-ROM in .PDF form. It was very thorough. It looks like they copy the paper service manual and put it on a CD. I don't understand most of it, but like I said in an earlier post, I was able to do a much more thorough convergence. My Temp setting is on High, and I am in the theater mode, also. The High temp seems to give everything a more realistic color.
As for issues: A couple of months ago I was watching a DVD and suddenly the colors all seperated. The control for the red gun went bad. Luckily, I bought the extended warrenty so I didn't have to pay anything out of pocket. The warrenty paid for itself in one shot. Right now I am seeming to be having some problem with my tint. I can't seem to keep it where I want it. And I noticed tonight, watching TV, that the people's faces kept turning light red to light green. Back and forth quickly. Like the tint was having a problem. Probably have to call a technician again. My set is also just over 2 years old.

Do you have any HD signal going to your TV? I have DirecTV, but no HD signal or reciever, yet.

Also, on your set, when you don't have a signal going to it and the TV is on, what color is the blank screen? Mine has a purple hue to it, and I am certain that it was not that color a few months ago. When I am watching a show, the purples seem to really stand out. Maybe something else is going wrong.

I also have directv with tivo. No HD yet but am dying to get it. But I am addicted to Tivo so I am kinda waiting for the directv HD with Tivo receiver to drop from $999. Little too much for my pocket. My screen with no input selected is that Light blue I refered to earlier. I know this wasn't what there was in the beginning. I remember because I immediatly noticed the color change and begain to see if something got switched or If I could correct it in the menu. I bought the extended warranty for mine it is for 5 years. To date no issues. I frequently take the back cover off and clean it out. Dust builds up there so fast. I also wipe clean the guns and the reflector. Do you have a home theater set up? I have JVC receiver RX8030, JVC XV65GD DVD, and JBL speakers. I use all monster cable but to be honest just the video seems to look better than standard cables. Audio I couldn't hear any difference. I am looking to upgrade my speakers soon. Klipsch seems to be the front runner but I do love JBL. I wish I had more expertise in this area, I guess I consider my self a novist. I wonder why your pic keeps bouncing green/red? I wonder if theres is some sort of processor that controls that. keep in touch...

I would like to get the HD receiver you talk about. (HR10-250) They have them brand new on EBAY for around $800.00. Still to rich for my blood. The red and green issue I have is not happening anymore. I might of had my tint up to much. I have been messing with it lately. I will keep you posted. I have a Panasonic DVD surround system, but it is one that is a complete system in a box. Nothing fancy. But, it does sound good. I do not like Monster anything. Way to pricey for just a little difference. I am definatly a novist when it comes to TV electronics.
Did you happen to turn on your TV, without your DirecTV receiver on, and see what color the blank screen is?

My screen is that light blue now, it wasn't that in the beginning. I think I jinxed myself. My son this morning while I was at work and my wife was on the computer thought he would help me by cleaning the screen of my TV. He opted to take Woolite carpet cleaner and spray it all over the screen. Well some seeped in through the lower left corner and up behind the protective screen. No I have these black streaks about 3 inches tall and 1 inch wide at the bottom of the screen. Theres is only two but man are they noticeable. I called about service and they said they dont cover "water" damage and also do not cover the screen in the extended service plan. Only things that can be considered manufacturer defects., not normal wear and tear. SH#@ !!!! So I am hoping this will dry out and not "burn" in the screen. But I am also pondering the idea of seeing if I can get in there and clean this out. Well Ill be in touch on this fun journey! Later
