I just recently purchased my Zenith Model E44W48LCD. It is a rear projection unit with a replacable halogen lamp. Does anyone know the approximate number of hours this lamp is supposed to last? Also is there away you can actually check the number of hours used?
Thanks

I noticed that no one was able to help with my question so i wrote to the customer service people at Zenith (LG). The response I recieved from them was that it wasn't listed in the service manual, but they believed it was approximately 20,000 mtbf. Whatever that means? Also there is no way to check on remaining lamp life except the lamp indicator light on the front of the TV which is explained on page 5 of the owners manual. Hope this helps anyone else out there.
This is a great site. I've learned quite a lot from it. Thanks!

MTBF = mean time between failure. 20k hours is a ton of hours. Doesn't really say what the useable lamp life is.
Actually a halogen lamp? Would have thought it would be one of those expensive UHP lamps.
Mine says its good for 3,000 hours at low power. At approx $470-500 I sure hope so. Half way there.
Thanks for the feedback.

Thank you for answering my question as to what those initals meant. As far as an actual halogen bulb, that is what the dealer ( I bought mine locally, not from a big store!) told me. He told me that replacement cost was about $300. I found a site called www.partsolver.com. There I found the bulb for $286 so.....? Thanks again!
