I bought a video game for my xbox. It won't fill the screen up like the rest of my games, some kind of bug or just the way it was made. Anyway, there are 2 black sidebars while I play the game. What kind of effect will this have on my tv? It's basically the same as watching a movie the has 2 black bars, but they are on the top and bottom. My tv is a toshiba 42"widescreen projection hdtv that I bought 2 years ago....

Two words: stretch mode. Over time your TV could suffer burn in from playing that particular game with the black sidebars.

Yep, watching any channel with bars, logos...etc,playing games could burn the screen, the repairman told us Plasmas are worse & more suseptible :( EarlKatt

limit that game to 20% of the viewing of the set and you should be ok.

Burn in is an extremely sensitive matter to all of us who care about the expensive tv's that we wish to have for many years. However, I think as long as you are using stretch mode for tv signals that have black bars and using your game casually not excessively, you shouldn't have to worry.--James
