Hi,
I'm looking to purchase a HDTV and think I have narrowed it down to these two sets, Samsung 6163 or Sony 60WF655 If you have any other suggestions please let me know as this is a big purchase for me . I also looked at a Toshiba 62 HM84 but it looked really washed out and out of focus to my eye,it could have been the signal but I don't know. I do like the fact that it has the HD2 chip in it but it didn't compare to the Sony or Samsung

u should look at the mitwd62725 much better tv than samsung and sony. it has the mustang 2 + chip . this is the best dlp chip on the market. and the set gives u more options as far as calibrating the picture quality. and its lamp is 20% brighter than any dmd display on the market.

Samsung DLP 61" is a garbage, this is my personal opinion not reflecting others. This is what I posted on one forum after reading the problem person had with DLP garbage tvs.

bought the same samsung DLP 61" TV 3 weeks ago from Sears and got a very nice price since my wife manages Sears Opticals and she got 20% off on that particular day.

What you are referring to is termed as "Smudges" or "Built in Stains" by many users on other forums? I got that problem in one week after buying the tv, I couldn't understand first, what that was. But it disappears after 30 minutes of watching tv or I should say fades away but if you view from different angles closely, you can still view those smudges. So I got disappointed and exchanged the tv with new one, very happy to see no problem for 2 days but next day in a day light without lights on in the living room, I watched some DVD and here again I could see the same problem. Smudges on entire left, right and entire top clearly visible. Samsung is very aware of this problem, the solution according to them was replacing the front panel but I don't think that would fix the problem permanently. AFter all you are a consumer, after spending that much money you don't want any hassle or problems in your product. I MEAN COMEON SAMSUNG IS KOREAN, SONY IS JAPANESE. THERE IS JUST NO COMPARISON. I BET IF SONY HAD MADE DLP TVS, WOULD BE FAR BETTER THAN GARBAGE SAMSUNG.

This garbage is going out of my beautiful house and being exchanged with Sony 60" XS955 model Rear PRojection LCD TV. I heard a lot, lot about Sony 60XS955 model, worth giving it a shot. I wouldn't keep the tv if problem exists persistently. I hope this information helps.

It depends which one looks better to you the lcd or the dlp, also which inputs on the back of the tv you would use most, they're both good tv's.

I also believe that the Mitsubishi wd62725 is the best light engine projection tv. Great color reproduction, plus smooth transition of motion. Not alot of artifacts that is seen on the Sony LCD. Plus it has a lot of nice features, like all the digital camera reader software, and built in tuner. Can be a plus! You never know when your provider will go out! Black level is very accurate. I saw it next to the kdf60xbr950, and it blew it away.
