Power PT43LC14 (50 or 60" model applies too)

My girlfriend just noticed something the other day that I had not previously noticed and maybe there is a simple fix.

When she powered the television off with the selection on Component 1, I was unable to turn the television back on. The same thing happened when we turned the set off with the selection on Video 1,2, or 3.

It's as if you need to turn it to a channel before powering it off for it to turn back on.

I unplugged it and tried and then it came on. Is this a glitch or is there something I'm missing?

Sounds like abnormal behaviour to me. There is no reason I can think of you should be on a specific input. It certainly doesn't apply to other HDTVs.

Does it also happen when using the 'front panel' power button or just from the remote?

Seems odd, does this happen while the power indicator is a solid red? Do you get a blinking green or does it stay solid red?

I tried to power on with the front panel as well to no avail. As for the red power indicator light, if memory serves me right, I believe it was blinking (not a solid red).

A blinking light often indicates a "fault". The number of blinks often gives a clue to the technician as to the nature of the fault. Check your operating manual to see if they have a diagnosis on this.

With PT50LC14 as well as the 43 when you turn the unit off it blinks red, after the cool down period it turns a solid red. Does it ever turn a solid Red when you power off on those inputs. If you try to power back on while the light is blinking it takes longer for the unit to power back on, but it should turn to a blinking green until it does.
